Why I Chose To Become A Legislator
My name is Erica Mosca (She/Her) and I ran to represent our community in Nevada Assembly District 14.
Growing up my dad would fry pancit before rushing out the door to work the graveyard shift. With my mom getting off at the same time, we never ate dinner together, but he made sure the rice was hot.
A man that immigrated to the United States at 17, learned English from Sesame Street and earned his GED– a man that works harder than any other person I know– could not afford to board the plane with me or send money to help support me when I was the first in our family to go to college.
He taught me the values of determination, empathy and equity. I ran for Nevada State Assembly to ensure we have someone who will work tirelessly and with empathy to ensure all Nevadans make a living wage, have equitable access to education and will work to lower the cost of prescription drugs, address climate issues and increase access to affordable healthcare for hard-working Nevadan Families.
Because of my parents, I became a 5th grader teacher driving up Sahara and Nellis every day to ensure moms and dads like mine could see their dreams come true for their children. And I started a non-profit 10 years ago to make sure those children could become adults with real choices, real access and real opportunities for a real American dream.
I’m ready. I’m ready to represent my father and all our families in the Nevada state legislature. Thank you for voting for me this past November for Assembly District 14.
Your Assemblywoman,
Erica
